They really do have less character. Auto designers are restricted with so many regulations and requirements and marketing requirements in their defence.
Yes alright a bit a photoshop fun with these images of images of Porsche 356 and early VW Beetle. The idea was to show the VW origins of early Porsche but ironically what struck me was how incredibally different the proportions are. The Beetle is so clearly narrow, upright and familier, but just look how low and wide the 356 is.
I love the look of them. Makes you feel sometimes that cars don't have half the character as the used to.
